Property History
The Andrew Barnes House - The original owner Andrew Barnes transferred the property to Dr. John Orton in 1805 showing 15 acres and 108 rods of land with no mention of a house though unusual not unheard of. When Dr Orton passed, the property went to his daughter Mary Eliza and the house is mentioned in the inventory of his estate. The dating of the house was determined by local historian Lionel Williams. Further history of ownership to the present owner is available from publications of the Sherman Historical Society.
