An upstate New York 19th century living history museum is seeking Director of Special Events. Duties and responsibilities include research planning and implementation of large scale events and special programs which use both educational materials and entertaining venues to engage our visitors. Museum special events support the museum’s strategic plan through engaging and enjoyable encounters which share the stories of the past while relating to the visitors of today.

The successful candidate must be experienced in the traditional management duties of maintaining a demanding day-to-day work environment while having the vision to create large entertainment venues and the experience to bring these plans to life.

The skills and abilities generally gained through an undergraduate degree in education, history or related fields plus a minimum of five to seven years demonstrated experience in a similar work situation in an educational, business or museum environment is preferred. Genesee Country Village & Museum is located in Mumford, New York just minutes south of Rochester. Established in 1976, the Historic Village is home to the largest collection of 19th century historic buildings in the east. The Historic Village, John L. Wehle Art Gallery and Nature Center are open from mid-May to mid-October Tuesday thru Sunday and Monday Holidays.
