Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee implementation of the Section 106 Programmatic Agreement (PA) for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project (HRTP).
  • Coordination with state and city agencies as well as PA signatories, consulting parties, and Native Hawaiian cultural and lineal descendents.
  • Collaboration on behalf of HART with the Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) regarding land use planning activities, including the integration of transit-oriented-development planning  with historic preservation needs in the vicinity of HRTP stations.
  • Preparation and/or review of Hawaii, National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark Nominations.
  • Oversight on transit station design with a focus on inclusion of historic and cultural elements, and educational material preparation.
  • Support in development mitigation to specific historic properties.
    • Requirements:  Graduate degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation, or closely related field, with coursework in American architectural history, or a bachelor's degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation or closely related field plus either: two years of full-time experience in research, writing, or teaching or substantial contribution through research and publication.
