Yap, FSM - RULL MUNICIPALITY RECONNAISSANCE LEVEL SURVEY OF SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC PROPERTIES AND RESOURCES (Yap, Micronesia)

The Yap State Historic Preservation Office (YSHPO) hereby solicits for professional assistance to perform a survey for Yap State Historic Preservation Office. The minimum professional qualification is a graduate degree in archaeology or closely related field plus:

1.) At least one year full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research with at least some practical experiences in archaeological field works in the Micronesian or Pacific areas;

2.) At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general Pacific Islands archaeology.

In addition to these minimum qualifications, a professional in prehistoric archaeology shall have at least one year of full time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archaeological resources of the prehistoric period. A professional in historic archaeological shall have at least one year of full time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archaeological resources of the historic period.

The contractor will be responsible to conduct a reconnaissance survey of Rull municipality, Yap State, train 5 field workers, conduct inventory and assessment of tangible resources in Rull, and issue a final report meeting Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. The survey goals will be to collect photos, preliminary mapping, including oral histories collection on the selected sites and historic properties. Fieldworkers will be required to transcribe their interviews, and translation will be performed by YSHPO staff.

Proposals will be evaluated on meeting or exceeding RFP requirements identified in the above paragraphs. Each proposal will be evaluated for meeting YSHPO goals, clarity, and reasonableness of the proposal on a scale of 1-5 (five is the highest) for
each requirement, averaged, and compared to other received submissions. This
project shall be treated on a reimbursement basis.
