Information About The Job:
BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION:This position is responsible for reviewing, correcting, synthesizing, processing and disseminating cultural resource information. Tasks include adding information to the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation’s (OAHP) computerized database as well as Geographic Information System (GIS). This position is a non-classified, full-time position, exempt from overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act reporting to the GIS Specialist IV in the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, and serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. This position is exempt from the State Personnel System.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Reviews historical and architectural cultural resource forms for both internal and comparative correctness and consistency.
Encodes appropriate data into the computer database following established guidelines.
Adds spatial data from sites to the GIS.
Corrects mistakes in database information or requests additional information as needed.
Provides cultural resource information to other professionals and the public as requested and as appropriate.
A bachelor’s degree in history, historic preservation, architectural history, art history or a closely related field is strongly desired. Individual should have a good understanding of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory forms and of Colorado history and architecture. Experience with computerized databases required and GIS preferred. Must be able to read, comprehend, locate and interpret features on topographic maps. Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently. Attention to detail and concern for accuracy is necessary.
