DESCRIPTION:
The Prince George's County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking a Senior Planner to join our planning team. The ideal candidate will: possess a master's degree in historic preservation, architectural history, history, or related field; demonstrate excellent organizational, research, writing, and communication skills as well as a desire to work extensively with internal and external program stakeholders. Familiarity with the State of Maryland and National Park Service (National Register) documentation standards is also preferred.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:
The duties of this position are highly technical and focus on all aspects of the documentation of historic properties to established state and federal standards, the review of Historic Area Work Permits, and Preservation Tax Credit applications impacting designated historic resources and historic districts. This position also provides assistance with the review and analysis of development applications impacting historic resources and provides information to the stakeholders and the public on all aspects of the Prince George's County Historic Preservation Program.
This position's work program provides support to the Prince George's County Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), an appointed board that meets one evening each month, and also provides technical support to the Prince George's County Planning Department and the Prince George's County Planning Board.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in planning, architecture, parks, engineering, environmental science, or equivalent disciplines related to job function and one year of progressively responsible professional level planning experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
The Prince George's County Planning Department is currently located in historic Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Free onsite parking is available for employees. In the foreseeable future, the Department will be moving to a newly renovated, state-of-the-art building in Largo, Maryland, conveniently located near Metro and 1-495.

The M-NCPPC offers a competitive salary range of $52,480.00 to $89,803 per annum at the Senior Planner level with an excellent benefits package. The Commission is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from minorities, females, and persons with disabilities.
