PRESS RELEASE: DR. ROBERT WINTER TO VISIT 6579 PICKWICK ESTATE Internationally acclaimed writer and expert on Batchelder Tile, Dr. Robert Winter is scheduled to visit Pickwick St. Estate on the week of 8/10/08.
Property located 3 minutes from Ernest Batchelder home in Pasadena California. Over 800 authentic Batchelders in array of collection featured in this 1939 Spanish Villa located on the border of Southwest Pasadena and Historic Garvanza district of Los Angeles.
Tile Heritage Foundation President, Joseph A. Taylor released the statement,
"Your Batchelder tile installations are significant. Batchelder tiles were commonly used in Southern California homes from the early 1910s through the 1930s primarily on fireplace mantels. What's unusual in this home are the polychrome tiles on the stair risers, a unique combination of pattern and color with a special aesthetic appeal. There is a definite sense of both warmth and welcome to these installations."
