This position is offered by the National Trust for Historic Preservation Individual Giving in Washington, DC and supports the Director of Development and the Individual Giving Team, by coordinating, planning and providing logistical assistance, to include travel arrangements.

Duties:

  • Provide assistance to the Director of Development, Individual Giving, and the Individual Giving team including administrative functions of preparation of correspondence, travel arrangements, copying, filing, and similar tasks.
  • Manage the scheduling of all internal and external meetings for the Director of Development, Individual Giving and other members of the Individual Giving team.
  • Assist with the tracking of and project management of gift acknowledgements, campaign pledge reminders, annual fund mailings, and updating of prospect databases.
  • When appropriate, may assist with drafting of correspondence and campaign proposal materials for Individual Giving Officers. Maintain office files, calendar of events, and related information for the Director of Development, Individual Giving and Individual Giving Officers.
  • Coordinate planning and logistics for the travel of the Director of Development, Individual Giving Officers; coordinate all follow-up expense reports and travel reimbursements.
  • When necessary, may attend weekly meetings with the Director of Development, Individual Giving, Individual Giving Officers, and Director of Planned Giving to discuss development issues and initiatives, record notes, create memos, and perform appropriate follow-up.
  • Interact with Board members and other key volunteers regarding fundraising efforts and other issues.
  • Work on special projects for the Director of Development, Individual Giving and Individual Giving Officers as assigned. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Competence with Microsoft Office, specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Superior organizational and planning skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills are required
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, set priorities and manage a number of projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must have attention to detail and be able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Must have demonstrated writing ability and communication skills
  • Must be highly motivated, dependable, organized, and a conscientious self-starter
  • Must demonstrate the professionalism and poise to interact with leadership volunteers and senior National Trust staff
  • An undergraduate degree is required with preference for a fundraising background and preservation or cultural organization interest preferred
