The National Trust has shifted its communication, advocacy, and engagement efforts to a more robust online presence over the past year through significant investment in a new web 2.0 platform called PreservationNation. We are preparing to launch an integrated e-commerce business to take advantage of our investment in PreservationNation and the online market, with a goal of increasing engagement of the public and enhancing revenue streams to support the organization's community-focused mission.

This is an enterprise-wide initiative. The intern will be accountable for ensuring strategic planning processes across all functional areas of the organization, including our historic sites, with their on-line stores and ticketing operations; our professional networks, with their on-line book sales, conference registrations, webinars, etc; and our membership, fundraising, and licensing operations, as well as our external partners, and the revenue potential of the web site itself. The National Trust is a multi-faceted organization with functional areas at various levels of readiness for e-commerce. Based in Washington, DC, the National Trust for Historic Preservation's summer program offers 15-20 interns, working in various departments, the opportunity to exercise their skills and gain valuable experience by applying their academic training in a real world business setting.
