The Preservation Associate will assist the organization in overseeing all preservation advocacy efforts and special projects, such as our current work expanding the boundaries of the Upper East Side Historic District. The candidate will work with community groups and government agencies on preservation issues and projects as well as review, write, and present testimony for all Upper East Side applications pending before the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The candidate will represent the organization at public hearings and events. In addition, the Preservation Associate will help with general office management, bookkeeping, and fielding public inquiries.
The position is currently part-time, minimum of 20 hours per week, hourly pay is $18/ hour. Tuesdays are required but hours are flexible, occasional evening and weekend work. This is a nine-month position with a start date in mid-March.
Qualifications: This position requires a high-energy self-motivated person who is extremely knowledgeable about historic preservation policy and New York City and its built environment. The Candidate must have strong communication skills and be comfortable as a public speaker. An advanced degree in historic preservation or related field is preferred.
