Rejuvenation Enlists Customers' Help in Remaining a Carbon Neutral Company

The American Lighting Manufacturer Engages Customers in Earth Day Celebration by Giving Away Compact Fluorescent Bulbs with All Lighting Purchases.

PORTLAND, ORE (April 7, 2009) - Carbon neutral since 2006, Rejuvenation is excited to involve customers to help them achieve the goal of offsetting their carbon output from 2008. Beginning April 21, the company will include compact fluorescent bulbs in customer orders with light fixtures. Rejuvenation will provide over 3,000 free bulbs to customers to help meet its carbon offset goals.

Since opening as an architectural salvage store in 1977 Rejuvenation has been focused on sustainable practices throughout all facets of the business. Earth Day is the perfect occasion to share our enthusiasm for making an impact on the environment.

"When Rejuvenation made the commitment to being carbon-neutral, we measured our footprint and wrote a check for carbon off-sets. This year we decided we wanted to do something that had a more meaningful connection to our business. Noting that most of our impact on the environment comes through the use of our lights, we are directly engaging our customers in carbon reduction. We calculated how many bulbs it would take to offset our carbon and will give the bulbs to our customers. They can save money and reduce their impact on the environment. It's a small thing but we feel strongly that we have both an opportunity and an obligation to make a positive difference." says Alysa Rose, President of Rejuvenation.

According to the EPA, "if every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars." Many people have expressed their reluctance to using CF bulbs because they believe the light quality is inferior. What greater way to overcome any potential barrier to compact fluorescent bulbs than to give them away? Now, customers can try them out at no cost to them. Once they've seen how much CF light has improved, we hope that they'll make the change throughout their homes.

Currently 70% of Rejuvenation's lighting selection is available with a hardwired, compact fluorescent (GU24) upgrade at no additional cost. By late 2009 nearly all of Rejuvenation's lighting will be available in GU24. Selecting fixtures with this option is an easy, inexpensive way to make the commitment to lessoning your footprint and saving money on electricity expenses. For more information see our Energy Savings Calculator.
