Christmas at Lorenzo State Historic Site, Cazenovia, NY
December 17-21, 2008 |
Cazenovia – Beginning on Wednesday, December 17 and running through Sunday, December 21, the public is invited to attend Lorenzo State Historic Site each day from 1-4 pm for Christmas at Lorenzo, the perennially favorite holiday program in Cazenovia. Additionally, Christmas by Candlelight will be offered on Friday, December 19 from 7-9 p.m. and the circa 1814 Rippleton Schoolhouse will also be open throughout the evening of December 19 and during the Sunday, December 21 program.
Throughout the Federal-style mansion, erected in 1807 by John Lincklaen, special holiday displays have been created and installed by volunteer decorators. Christmas by Candlelight will feature live music by Bells & Motley Consort, and Lamplit Farms will be providing sleigh or hayrides (weather-dependant) to the Rippleton Schoolhouse for live music, refreshments and candle-making with Jackie Pavese of “Wax, Wicks and Wares.” Mary Jeanne Bialas, of Victorian Whispers, will present a special 19th Century program in the mansion, Father Christmas will be on hand and Phillips Bros. Photography will offer family Christmas portraits for purchase in the Visitor’s Center. Saturday’s program, Dec. 20, will include greetings by Father Christmas, live music by the Belle Aire Handbell Quartet, as well as family Christmas portraits by Phillips Bros. Photography in the Visitor’s Center. CNY Jazz Orchestra Trio will provide live music in the mansion on Sunday, Dec. 21. Lamplit Farms will again offer transportation to the schoolhouse for free refreshments and make-and-take crafts for children. Mary Jeanne Bialas will also be on hand to offer Victorian portraits in the back of the mansion and Father Christmas will be greeting all.
Support, in part, for holiday programming at Lorenzo has been generously provided by The Friends of Lorenzo. A modest admission price is charged for a holiday visit to Lorenzo. Group tours may also be arranged by advance reservation only. For more information, please call (315) 655-3200 or visit www.lorenzoNY.org. |
