Lime Mortar and Historic Brick Hands On Workshop: Heritage Day, Easton PA
July 12, 2009 |
Hosted by Preservation Works Ltd. This brief introduction to lime mortar and historic brick will take place in front of the Library Hall, now owned by Archive Architects. This Federal Style 1811 building was designed after Independence Hall and was the first library in Easton. It is an appropriate location to learn a little about traditional masonry and it is free to all.
This hands-on workshop will give attendees a chance to install traditional lime mortar in practice walls, learn about the materials used in traditional masonry, the lime cycle, observe quick lime slaked into lime putty and lime putty hand mixed into mortar. No experience is required, this is strictly an opportunity for Eastonian's to appreciate their early american architecture.
