May 7, 2009 |
The original Mother Church located on what is now known as the Christian Science Plaza is a landmark structure in Boston. Erected in 1894 in the Romanesque Revival style, it includes many notable architectural and decorative elements, for example in its stained-glass windows, frescoes, and hand-laid marble floors. Behind the building is a story of overcoming singular architectural, financial, and other challenges in bringing it to fruition.
Of interest to architectural historians, preservationists, and Boston history buffs , Mrs. Pinkham will highlight intriguing features of the building in her remarks.
The event is free and open to the public.
