Invigorating Museums - 2009 Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums Annual Meeting
October 18-21, 2009 |
In 2009, MAAM will return to Saratoga Springs, having last visited the former “Queen of Spas” in 1987. The conference theme, “Invigorating Museums" was suggested by the city’s reputation in the nineteenth century as the foremost place to “take the waters,” which were thought to have a refreshing and invigorating effect. Indeed, Saratoga Springs appears to offer a perfect environment to talk about ways to refresh and renew our museums—exploring new structures of museum leadership, promoting creativity, increasing relevancy, and inviting and engaging new audiences. MAAM’s 2009 Program Committee invites proposals for panels, workshops, roundtables, and information sessions that address such topics as youth in museums, productive uses of technology, refreshing permanent exhibits, energizing leadership, creative ways of solving funding problems, new and original initiatives (in all areas), and other topics that seem pertinent to the theme. |
