Having already gained world renown for his "Organic Architecture," in the 1930's Frank Lloyd Wright began designing a series of houses for families of modest means that he called Usonian, a term he coined to describe a philosophy of American living in harmony with the land. |
The Gordon House was designed by Wright in the Usonian tradition for Evelyn and Conrad Gordon in 1957 and constructed in 1964. In 2002, the home was saved from demolition and moved to a permanent location in Silverton, Oregon. This program begins at the AHC with a short presentation by Brian Libby (writer of the Portland Architecture blog) on the topic of sustainability - past and present, then we’ll all board a bus to Silverton to tour the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building in Oregon.
Enjoy lunch, wine tasting, and music in a truly beautiful and unique setting.
Pre-Registration is REQUIRED! – here online or call the AHC at (503) 231-7264.
Limited to 35 people. |
