If you are the owner of an older or historic home, or thinking of becoming one, mark your calendar and make plans to spend Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the 2010 Old House Fair. This terrific one day event, designed to bring together owners and aspiring owners of older and historic homes with historic preservation specialists from throughout the Philadelphia area, is the place to be for fans and stewards of old houses.
Attendees of the 2010 Old House Fair will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to visit two buildings featuring 70+ exhibition booths of preservation professionals and vendors representing, products, services and information pertaining to older and historic houses, including a select group of local and regional non-profit and governmental preservation and design-related organizations. The Fair will feature many hands-on demonstrations by specialty craftspeople, presented in the central demonstration area, along with an impressive collection of a dozen presentations by both the participating vendors and other historic preservation specialists concerning preservation practices, products and services throughout the day.
The 2010 Old House Fair is a great opportunity for homeowners and aspiring homeowners to meet with exhibitors, attend the demonstrations and presentations, take advantage of the “Ask the Experts” consultations, and gather useful information at the Preservation Resource Center. Attendees will also receive a copy of the 2010 Old House Fair Program Book, featuring useful information and a listing of detailed information about each of the vendors.
In addition to all the great information and advice that will be available at the 2009 Old House Fair, the Preservation Alliance will present the 2010 Homeowner Awards to a select group of homeowners for their outstanding restoration and renovation projects.
The 2010 Old House Fair will also include the presentation of the "Robert Levy Award" to recognize the work of a preservation contractor whose work honors the spirit and quality of the well-loved and fondly-remembered Philadelphia preservationist Robert Levy.
