Historic architecture is a fragile treasure. Our primary objective is to focus the community’s attention on Lake Oswego’s architectural heritage and to inspire pride in and preservation of this legacy.
2010 is Lake Oswego’s centennial celebration year! So, step back in time with us, visit some lovely homes, and note how preserving historic architecture is compatible with today’s lifestyle. By being good stewards of the past we will enrich the future for generations to come.
The tour homes are exciting. There are traditional, older homes on the tour, as well as several mid-century examples. One of the homes has a spectacular sustainable garden to stroll through. The garden will be featured in Horticulture Magazine.
For this special centennial year home tour we are also including The Lake Oswego Hunt Club (www.lakeoswegohunt.com). The LOH is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and truly one of the gems of our community. LOH will have exciting on-going equestrian events during the tour in their historic indoor wooden open truss arena.
Proceeds from the tour will go to the Oswego Heritage Council. This is Lake Oswego’s non-profit historic society, residing in the beautiful Oswego Heritage House, which is an ever-changing history museum, re-search facility, education center, and community jewel! See www.oswegoheritage.org for information about all we do!
