The New Bedford Preservation Society's Annual Plaque and Elm Award Ceremony
May 17, 2007 |
The New Bedford Preservation Society will hold its Annual Plaque and Elm Award Ceremony on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 7 p.m. at the Downtown New Bedford Library, Third Floor Meeting Room. Mr. Mark Fuller, representing the society's Plaque Committee, will give a slide presentation featuring the thirteen recipients of this year's Elm Award. The society presents this award annually to recognize individuals or organizations that have done an outstanding job in either the restoration or preservation of their historic property. The public is cordially invited to attend this program and the reception which follows. As May is National Preservation Month, this ceremony is a fitting tribute to those who have accomplished much in preserving the heritage of the city for the future.
In addition to the Historic Marker Program, other Society projects include New Bedford Re-Leaf, the production of Historic District walking tour brochures, Summer Afternoon Walking Tours, Historical Cemetery Tours, semi-annual House Tours, and lectures throughout the year on historic preservation. The society's 25th Annual House and Garden Tour is scheduled for June 24th from 1 to 5 p.m. If you are interested in learning more about the Historic Marker Program or other programs, call the society office at 508-997-6425 or visit www.nbpreservationsociety.org. |
