Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums Annual Meeting
October 9-12, 2011 |
Museum professionals owe a debt of gratitude to the Muses of ancient Greece who embodied the arts and inspired creation. The word “museum” comes from the Greek word Mouseion, meaning a temple dedicated to the Muses. It came to mean a building for the study of the arts and sciences and evolved into museums as we know them today.
In MAAM’s 2011 Annual Conference we will call upon the kindness of the Muses to inspire museum professionals to develop fresh new strategies and ensure the future sustainability of our institutions. Whether rehabbing old windows in your historic museum structure to make them more energy efficient, or re-positioning your institution to better focus staff and resources on its core mission, or diversifying income generation, or exploring the better use of local resources and materials in school programs; MAAM 2011 in Baltimore seeks session proposals that inspire new thinking, new strategies, and sustainability in all of its dimensions.
