Architectural Restoration Weekend Field School at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest
April 15-17, 2011 |
Don't have time to attend the full two-week field school? Now you can do it in a weekend! This new, three-day program, under the direction of Travis McDonald, Director of Architectural Restoration, will focus on the documentation, investigation and analysis of an historic building. The weekend field school will be held April 15 through 17, 2011.
The 3-day workshop will introduce participants to the process of architectural investigation and documentation. Students will focus on learning how to “read” a building, how to ask the right questions, how to record information, and how to analyze evidence, working as a team to investigate and document an historic building and then to compile a report. Illustrated lectures on the restoration process at Poplar Forest will enhance the hands-on learning experience.
Applications are available now and may be downloaded from http://www.poplarforest.org/programs/weekend-field-school. Tuition for the weekend is $200.00. Please submit tuition, application and a copy of your resume by Friday, April 1, 2011. Questions may be directed to Travis McDonald at travis@poplarforest.org or (434) 534-8123.
