Robert McCarter :: Understanding Architecture
November 8, 2012 |
Space, time, matter, gravity, light, silence, dwelling, ritual, memory, landscape and place...
Robert McCarter -- a practicing architect and Ruth and Norman Moore Professor of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis -- has written extensively about Frank Lloyd Wright. His co-author, Juhani Pallasmaa, is one of Finland's most distinguished architects and architectural thinkers. In Understanding Architecture, they address the basic principles of architecture. With its broad historical sweep (and without the typical architectural jargon), this book is a unique introduction to the experience of architecture.
Q & A, book signing and reception to follow. Admission: $12 UTRF members; $15 non-members. For tickets visit http://bit.ly/VBr6hy
