Douglas Day
November 17, 2012 |
Douglas Day marks the day on November 19, 1858, when James Douglas proclaimed British Columbia a Crown Colony in Fort Langley’s Big House. Every year we celebrate B.C’s birthday and honour Douglas our first Governor. This year we are taking it one step further and highlighting James Douglas’s Guyanese roots!
The Fort Langley Legacy Foundation, Parks Canada and the Guyanese Canadian Cultural Association of BC invite you to celebrate BC’s 154th Birthday by experiencing the warmth of the Caribbean. Taste delicious food, watch cultural dancing, hear a steel drum band perform and of course sign the giant proclamation in the Big House! Free admission between 12:00 – 3:00pm.
