Webinar: Exploring Ohio’s Historical Architecture, Heritage Ohio
November 28, 2012 |
Ever wonder if that Italianate building in your downtown is from 1840s or 1910s? Our very own Christie Chapman will help you learn how to tell the difference! She will be discussing the differences between Ohio’s downtown buildings, beginning with the early 19th century. The webinar outlines the internal and external influences that shape Ohio’s architecture and explores the vital role building technology played in developing architectural styles. Christie will also share current examples of Ohio downtown corridors and help participants work through the challenges of contemporary streetscapes in Ohio.
Christie Chapman has worked in the field of historic preservation for both the private and non-profit sectors, state and local governments, and as an independent contractor. Prior to joining the Ohio History Service Corps with Heritage Ohio, Christie worked as a project designer for a 650,000 square foot historic tax credit project in North Carolina. She specializes in historic preservation design for tax credit projects and preparing National Register nominations for both individual properties and districts. She holds a BA in Interior Design from Michigan State University and an MS in Interior Architecture & Historic Preservation from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards in Architectural History.
