Historic Wilmington Foundation's Old House Fair
May 5, 2013 |
Historic Wilmington Foundation will offer its first Old House Fair on May 5, 2013, to start the celebration of National Preservation Month. The theme for National Preservation Month is See! Save! Celebrate!, a subject the fair should echo for old houses. The fair will be held at the Coastline Conference and Event Center, 503 Nutt Street from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and should offer help and information for everyone who owns an old house or would like to buy one. The Old House Fair will costs just $2 a person and it will feature almost 20 vendors who can discuss rehabilitation and restoration, roofing, energy efficiency, painting, insurance and construction lending among just some of the specialties. The Old House Fair will also feature several hands-on workshops on issues such as wood window repair and proper paint preparation for the old house. The house fair should be a lively and casual place to learn new information about old house care and maintenance and have an opportunity to win some nice items in a drawing during the afternoon.
The Wilmington Railroad Museum, just across the parking lot, will also offer a special of half priced museum admission tickets to House Fair attendees, so bring the whole family and make it an afternoon affair.
Historic Wilmington Foundation executive director, George Edwards stated, “That while the fair is geared toward old houses, the event should appeal to owners of houses from all eras. We will have some great resource people in attendance.”
This event made possible by a generous donation from the Coastline Conference and Event Center.
