Colonial Troop Muster
May 18, 2013 |
The Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County will conduct a re-enactment of a muster of a colonist's militia in Morlatten Village, Douglassville, PA. It is known that George Washington's army staged maneuvers at The White Horse Tavern, which will be open all day. Rations authorized by the Continental Congress will be available to the public for a few shillings. There will also be a vegetarian stew and hot dogs for the 21st century youngsters.
In addition to the White Horse, three other early to mid-18th century buildings owned by the Trust will be open hosting an early store display, open hearth cooking and beer making demonstration.
A shuttle to the site will be available on Rte. 662 a mile north of 422 in Douglassville.
