Bridgestories – A Storytelling Slide Show
September 29, 2007 |
In a city full of water and structures spanning it, author and historian Sharon Wood Wortman will share her encyclopedic knowledge of Portland’s rich bridge history in the context of bridges around the world during this lecture and slide presentation.
Attendees will then embark on a walking tour of the nearby 49-year old Morrison Bridge and its tower and pit which replaced the precursor 1887 and 1905 versions. You will be amazed to see gears that are 36 feet tall and a counterweight that tips 950 tons.
Sharon will be happy to sign copies of the third edition of her Portland Bridge Book, which will be offered at a twenty percent discount ($20 per book).
ADA accessible, with limitations inside the Morrison Bridge.
Pre-registration is strongly suggested, either at our website or using the coupon in the newsletter. |
