Architectural Restoration Talk & Tour
May 17, 2014 |
“When finished, it will be the best dwelling house in the state, except that of Monticello; perhaps preferable to that, as more proportioned to the faculties of a private citizen.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
Poplar Forest was Thomas Jefferson’s interpretation of a classic Roman villa retreat, enhanced by the many architectural ideas he collected throughout his travels and studies. Discover the many arresting elements in his design and be brought up to date on the latest discoveries made at the plantation through a special-guided tour and slide lecture presented by Poplar Forest’s Director of Architectural Restoration, Travis McDonald. Admission to the talk and tour is free with regular admission. Reservations are required. To reserve your tickets, call the Museum Shop at 434.534.8120.
