Tribute to Rev. Dr. Charles A. Tindley

Partners for Sacred Places and Tindley Temple UMC hosts a weekend dedicated to the life, contributions and work of the Rev. Dr. Charles Albert Tindley (1851 - 1933). Dr. Tindley will be forever appreciated for his hymn “I’ll Overcome Someday” which became the basis of national anthem “We Shall Overcome”.
On Saturday, October 4, a Free all-day celebration at Tindley Temple UMC, Philadelphia, will feature Dr. Tindley’s hymns performed by powerful gospel choirs and soloists from across the region and country. Guest speakers will present The Man, His Mission, and His Music.
