So You Think You Know Long Island!
March 16, 2016 |
On March 16th, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will host Gene Horton and his program, "So You Think You Know Long Island!" How much do you know about Long Island? Long Island has had a long, recorded history from the first European settlements in the 17th century to today. Much influenced by construction of railroads in the 19th century, the island experienced growth in tourism as well as the development of towns and villages into some of the first modern suburbs in the U.S.
Come and test your knowledge of the history, geography and folklore of the island we call home. This participatory program promises to be both entertaining and informative. The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Ave. from 7-9 pm and is free and open to the public. For more info, www.isliphamlethistory.org, 631-245-0675.
