Adaptive Reuse in Historic Preservation with Rebecca Hunter
May 19, 2016 |
Rather than demolish a significant structure, preservationists much prefer alternatives such as restoration of original exterior features and adaptation of the interior for a different purpose. Thus, an old firehouse can become, for example, a residence, a museum, or a commercial building. This is known as adaptive reuse. We will explore how buildings can be adapted, and see examples of successfully repurposed historical structures. Come hear the latest updates on the future of the Elgin Tower Building. Please register.
