The Vocabulary of Architecture
February 9, 2008 |
Do you find yourself describing the elements of your house in terms of thing-a-ma-jigs and what-cha-ma-call-its? Join AHC Education Committee members Jane Morrison and Carol Lane to demystify the language of architecture. Learn about the parts that make up the whole of residential architectural styles that are common in Portland metro area neighborhoods.
This program is ideal for people who are thinking about preserving or rehabilitating their own house and for the just plain curious. Impress your friends and contractor with your new-found knowledge of ogees and lintels, trusses and soffits! From top to bottom, rooflines to windows to foundations, you’ll gain a whole new appreciation for the design and craft of our built environment.
This is the perfect companion program to the AHC presentation of What Style is My House? and participants are invited to bring a photo of their home.
Pre-registration is strongly suggested, either here at our website or using the form in the newsletter.
