From the Timeless to the Timely: A Celebration of New Orleans Style
December 11, 2019 |
Travel with the ICAA on this once-in-a-lifetime excursion to New Orleans, which will uncover the classical beauty and charm of this historic city. Experience exclusive receptions at private homes in the Garden District, Jackson Square, the French Quarter, and more; enjoy interiors designed by such luminaries as Keith Langham and Thomas Jayne; and discover the rich and captivating architectural heritage of New Orleans, from shotgun houses, to plantation houses, and beyond.
During this exciting architecture-focused tour, participants will explore the ways in which the classic meets the new in historic New Orleans, and will be granted access to incredible private homes that have been preserved since the Colonial and Classical Revival periods. Along the way, the group will have the opportunity to meet influential New Orleans residents along the way.
The tour is hosted by John Stubbs, an expert in architecture preservation. John is Christovich Senior Professor of Practice and Director of the Master of Preservation Studies program at the Tulane School of Architecture in New Orleans. He previously served as Vice President for Field Projects for the World Monuments Fund and as an adjunct Associate Professor of Preservation at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. A native of Louisiana, John first began his career in architecture preservation abroad as a surveyor on archaeological excavations in Italy and Egypt. He is also the author of two books.
