36th Annual Historic Homes Tour: Street Stories
October 19 - December 31, 2020 |
2020 has been a challenging year for events, to say the least! We at Poudre Landmarks Foundation are dedicated to bringing the history of Fort Collins to our amazing community. To that end, we are beyond excited to announce that the annual Historic Homes Tour returns for 2020!
The Poudre Landmarks Foundation is also dedicated to the safety and health of our community, so this year brings some changes to our format to insure social distancing while still providing a look at the architecture and stories of Fort Collins. To that end we have replaced the 36th annual Historic Homes Tour with "Street Stories" - a self-guided tour of the exteriors of historic locations in and around Old Town Fort Collins.
PLF’s annual Historic Homes Tour begins now!
This year’s tour showcases many styles of Old Town Fort Collins historic buildings built between 1879 and 1949: Victorian, Gothic Revival, Neoclassical, Richardsonian Romanesque, Art Moderne, Art Deco, Italianate, Spanish Revival and much more. The Edwards House Inn and the city-owned 1879 Avery House and 1883 Water Works are also part of the tour. There’s even a Quonset Hut and a cemetery! Guests visit the historic locations at their own pace and in any order. The free, official booklet guides attendees through each location, pointing out architectural features, historical highlights, and the evolution of Fort Collins. Guests are encouraged to participate in the scavenger hunt to win prizes including a hosted party at the Avery House.
This is a FREE, non-ticketed event.
Look for Street Stories booklets at many locations about town, or participate online at poudrelandmarks.org/historic-homes-tour
