The YUPs are going on an adventure, next Saturday June 24th, and you’re invited! We’ll start the day off with a moderate 2-3 mile hike in the Wesley Hill Nature Preserve to the Wenrich Cabin. The cabin was built by nationally known artist John Wenrich in 1926 as a place of respite and contemplation. For years, the cabin has sat unused and unmaintained. The Landmark Society included it in their 2023 Five to Revive list to draw attention to this rapidly deteriorating but magical place.
After the hike, we’ll head into town for behind-the-scenes tours of two Naples landmarks: the 1794 Federal style Cleveland House (operated by the Naples Historical Society) and the 1965 St. Januarius Church, designed by James Johnson (architect of the famed Mushroom House).
We’ll cap off the day with a few drinks at Engine 14 Brewery.
Cost is $12.51 per person, and space is limited. All ages are welcome. Check the link below for a detailed itinerary and FAQ.
This is going to be a fun, casual adventure with several members of the Young Urban Preservationists, (YUPs for short). We are an affiliate group of The Landmark Society, are an emerging generation of preservationists in the greater Rochester region dedicated to promoting inclusive, modern, and innovative preservation practices to help revitalize communities and our built environment. Please spread the word if you know someone that might be interested!
