An Unvarnished History of Housing Discrimination in Chicagoland
March 10, 2024 |
Join the museum in welcoming Dr. Sarah
Doherty, Associate Professor of U.S. History & Public History at North Park
University, to speak about Unvarnished, a digital exhibition for which
she was a core researcher, writer, and creator that centers around housing
discrimination in the northern and western United States.
Unvarnished recently
won an Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local
History (AASLH). Doherty’s talk will provide context for why Chicago is central
to regional and national conversations and scholarship about housing
discrimination and exclusionary housing practices.
