2024 Winter Lecture Series #2: Wandermere - Legacy on the Little Spokane River
February 8, 2024 |
Ty Brown's talk will encompass how he came about writing the history of Wandermere Golf Course. The business, founded in 1930 by his great-grandparents, has had many business models over the years. Wandermere involves much of Spokane's early history, from its humble beginnings as Spokane pioneer, Francis H. Cook's family farm to a wilderness escape for the "city folk" of the growing city, to the year-round playground, and eventually to the golf course that it is today.
Ty Brown has authored two books on local history of the Spokane area. He was born in Spokane and currently teaches high school in his hometown. He graduated from WSU with a degree in history and from Whitworth University with a master's degree in secondary education.
This free lecture/slide show will be held at the Liberty Park library event room at 402 S. Pittsburg Street. Seating is limited. Zoom meeting attendance is optional.
