Tour Downtown Los Angeles at Sunset
July 16 - August 27, 2008 |
Summer has come, and with it the Conservancy’s popular “Downtown at Sunset” walking tours. Featuring slightly shorter versions of our regular Saturday walking tours, these tours will take place on Wednesday evenings from July 16 through the end of August. Tours start at 5:30 p.m. and last approximately 1-3/4 hours.
Tours are $5 for Los Angeles Conservancy members and children 12 and under; $10 for the general public; reservations are required.
- Angelino Heights visits Carroll Avenue, a unique block of Victorian homes built in the 1880s, part of one of the first suburbs of Los Angeles. (August 13)
- Art Deco highlights the architecture and ornamentation of buildings from the 1920s and ‘30s, featuring rich materials and classic geometric design. (July 16 & August 6)
- Downtown’s Evolving Skyline explores the architecture and development of the Central Business District and Bunker Hill. (July 30 & August 20)
- Little Tokyo travels through the cultural and historic heart of the Japanese community in Los Angeles, once the largest in the United States. (July 23)
- Union Station offers an in-depth look this iconic LA landmark: the last great railway station built in America. (August 27)
Note: These tours are 30 to 50 minutes shorter than our regular Saturday morning tours, and therefore may not cover everything listed on the tour description for the Saturday tour.
