Pre-school Garden Program: Green as a Grasshopper

August 5, 2014
Pre-school Garden Program: Green as a Grasshopper
Winter, spring, summer and fall—come visit the gardens at Macculloch Hall!  “Growing in the Garden” is a year-round hands-on art program for 3–5-year-olds and their caregivers that uses natural resources found in the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum Garden. Each program includes a story, a walk in the garden, and an art project, and meets the first and third Tuesday each month with two session times available: 1:15–2:00 pm or 3:45–4:30 pm.

On August 5th, come listen to the summer sounds of grasshoppers in the program “Green as a Grasshopper”! Children will investigate grasshoppers, learn about the role of color and camouflage in the garden, and create their own antennae to wear home.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Pre-register with Cynthia Winslow by phone at (973) 538-2404 ext. 16 or email cwinslow@maccullochhall.org. The cost for each program is $12 per pair (child and adult) and $8 per pair for Museum members. There is a $5 discount for prepaid registration for four sessions. During inclement weather the program meets indoors in the museum classroom.  Please visit the Museum Facebook page for weather-related closings.

Another Growing in the Garden Program, “Hum like a Hummingbird”, will take place Tuesday, August 19th. For more details on all education programs or any of the other programs offered by Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, or to purchase a membership which offers a variety of benefits including discounts on programs, please visit maccullochhall.org.
