Family Program: Arch-KID-tecture Workshop

October 13, 2014
Family Program: Arch-KID-tecture Workshop
On Monday, October 13th, 2014, families can participate in an Arch-KID-tecture workshop at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum.  Come out and explore the legacy
of New Jersey’s “built environment” during an interactive walking tour of
Morristown’s first historic district, and learn to identify six different architectural
styles through their building elements and ornaments.  During the walking tour, families will also build an “architectural vocabulary” of building terms from the present and the past.  Back in the Museum’s classroom, families can apply what they’ve seen and learned by constructing a cardboard model of their favorite architectural style, or combine architectural elements for a unique creation.  Families will learn about the historic preservation movement in New Jersey and discover if
their hometown is “home” to one of Preservation New Jersey’sTen Most Endangered
Historic Places.

Two sessions are available: a morning session from 10 am - 12 noon and an afternoon session from 1 -3 pm.  Activities are recommended for children 7 - 12 years old.  The cost for the program is $8 per child ($6 per child for Museum members).  This cost includes the materials fee and there is no charge for the accompanying adult.  Pre-registration is required; please call Cynthia Winslow at (973) 538-2404 ext. 16, or email cwinslow@maccullochhall.org

For details on the education programs offered at the Museum please visit maccullochhall.org.
