23rd Annual Holiday House Tour

December 13-14, 2014

The New Bedford Preservation Society’s time-honored 23rd Annual Holiday House Tour will be held on December 13 (4-8 p.m.) and 14 (1-5 p.m.). You'll surely catch the holiday spirit as you tour the city's 19th century residences, beautifully decorated for the season.  This year's tour will feature the West of County Street historic district, where several residences will be shown for the first time. Visitors will also enjoy the costumed historic portrayals which will take place at one of the homes. Each year the unlimited array of design ideas inspire in the varied architecture and interiors, which are as diverse as the owners. The starting point for both tours is the Wamsutta Club, 427 County Street, New Bedford, tour headquarters, where a pre-tour brunch will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and where the society's Holiday Raffle and Silent Auction will be held during tour tours. Brunch reservations ($17 all inclusive tax and tip) are recommended but not required and should be made directly with the Wamsutta Club at 508-997-7431.

Tour tickets are $23 at the door.  Discounted advance tickets ($19) are available online through December 12 at www.nbpreservationsociety.org.  Advance tickets will also be available at the following ticket sites mid-November:  in New Bedford at the Arthur Moniz Gallery, New Bedford Antiques at Wamsutta, New York Shoe Repair and the Surrey Shoppe; in Dartmouth at The Ultimate Touch Nail Salon; in Fairhaven at Periwinkles; and in Marion at the Marion General Store. N. B. Preservation Society members will receive a $2 discount on their advance ticket purchase.

For more information call the society office (508) 997-6425 or visit us on Facebook or at www.nbpreservationsociety.org, where you can view homes featured on previous tours.

All proceeds will benefit the work of the society in its efforts to maintain and promote historic preservation in New Bedford.  To those ends, the Society has undertaken several major projects including its historic marker program, bi-annual historic house tours, historical cemetery tours, grave restoration project, summer walking tours, a tree-planting program (Re-Leaf), the publication of self-guided walking tour brochures, lectures, and other efforts.
