Getting to Know Your Old House: Tips on Affordable Appropriate Old House Care

March 14, 2015

Yankee Magazine and Historic New England invite you to Getting to Know Your Old House: Tips on Affordable Appropriate Old House Care

Join us to get a handle on 'dos and don'ts for old house care,' including tips on energy improvements, remodeling projects, and enhancing curb appeal by building on historic color and character, all with preservation and the bottom line in mind. Ask our experts your questions on owning and caring for an older home at the National Historic Landmark Lyman Estate, where a recent energy upgrade is saving fuel and money without compromising history.

Amy Traverso, Senior lifestyle editor at Yankee magazine moderates a panel of old house experts including Colleen Chapin, preservation manager, Historic New
England; Bruce Irving, renovation consultant and realtor, former executive
producer of This Old House; and Sally Zimmerman, senior preservation services manager, Historic New England.

The program in Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Historic New England’s Lyman Estate in Waltham, Mass. The event is free/open to the public, but registration is required. Register by calling 617-994-6678 or go
online.

Guests will receive a copy of Yankee magazine's March/April issue featuring the Special Spring Home Guide: Our Love of Old Houses. Features include The Oldest New House in New England and The Shades of an Era a brief history of house color, and changing tastes through 150 years of early New England.
