Preservation Thursday: Letters from the Attic

South Dakota Humanities Council Speaker’s Bureau Scholar, Phyllis Schrag, will offer a perspective of the life and times of people who settled in Dakota Territory. The presentation is based on 50 letters in German script addressed to Schrag’s great-grandfather, F.J. Meier. These letters were carefully saved, never translated and handed down through the generations; they detail faith, personal experiences and the agrarian nature of the Dakotas between 1878 and 1879. Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center; 12:00 p.m. Admission by donation.
