Summer Adventures Program - "Summer in the Secret Garden

July 27-30, 2015
Summer Adventures Program - "Summer in the Secret Garden
This summer, at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum (MHHM), three Summer Adventure Programs are planned for Webelos and Girl Scouts. Scouts can earn badges at these programs but other children are welcome to participate, being a Scout is not a requirement.

From July 27 to 30, session one of “Summer in The Secret Garden” meets for Junior Girl Scouts and friends to follow the life of Mary Lennox, the main character of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic children’s book “The Secret Garden”, and learn how Mary solves the mysteries of her uncle’s home and garden. Activities provide opportunities to earn three badges:  Animal Habitats, Gardener, and Detective. Girls explore garden design and try their hand at planting and compare animals native to New Jersey with animals living in other parts of the world.

Webelos and their friends can attend “Under the Trees”, running July 13 to 16, and learn about different types of trees.  Scouts can earn their Forester, Naturalist, and Artist Webelos Activity Badges.  From August 10 to 13, Brownie Girl Scouts and their friends can also explore a “Summer in the Secret Garden”, where they can earn their Making Friends, Making Games, and Bugs badges.

The Summer Adventure Programs take place Monday to Thursday from 9am – 12 noon. Pre-registration is required. Call (973) 538-2404 ext. 16 or email cwinslow@maccullochhall.org. The cost for each four-morning program is $150/child for Museum members and $175/child for non-members.
