Petrography for Archeologists
March 9-10, 2016 |
NCPTT, in partnership with the National Park Service, Friends of NCPTT, Southern Arizona Office and the Center for Historic Architecture and Design (CHAD) in the University of Delaware’s School for Public Policy and Administration, will offer a two-day, hands-on course on thin-section petrographic analysis of archeological ceramics for NPS employees and partners. Dr. Chandra Reedy has hosted successful hands-on workshops for the National Park Service and has developed online courses through the Preservation Technology and Training Grants Program. Polarized light microscopy of stone and ceramics, known as thin-section petrography, is a crucial tool for the study of ancient and historic objects.
