MPA ROAD SHOW OFFERS UNCOMMON HISTORY TOURS AND TALKS
The Montana Preservation Alliance (MPA) invites the public to participate in back roads history tours and talks on historic preservation, June 1-4 in Red Lodge, Montana. This year’s Road Show pulls out all the stops to celebrate 50 years of the National Historic Preservation Act in Montana with a wide variety of off-the-beaten path tours and talks with local and national experts.
MPA has even added a fourth day to the usual three-day conference to accommodate more keynote speakers and all day tours. Registration is $125 for members and $145 for non-members through April 30. Tours on June 4 require a separate fee. Fees increase by $20 on May 1. Call 406-457-2822 for information, or register online at www.preservemontana.org/events. Registration closes May 27.
Tour Highlights
- Full-day tours exploring homesteading and ethnic heritage; prehistoric rock art and Native American history of the Pryor Mountains; historic barns; and the Influence of the Crow Tribes in Stillwater County.
- Half-day tours to Smith Mine and Bearcreek, or Into the Woods for historic sites in the Custer National Forest
- Beartooth Highway excursion on authentic Yellowstone Buses
- Horse-drawn wagon and walking tours in Red Lodge
