An Evening with John Monteleone

October 6, 2017
An Evening with John Monteleone
Wed., Oct. 6th, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet and Islip Public Library will co-host an evening with John Monteleone.  John, an entertaining storyteller, was born in 1947 to a family that traces its roots to Palermo, Italy. John’s  father was a skilled artist and sculptor (famous in his own right) who taught his son woodworking as well as the ability to understand a variety of materials and designs.

John, an Islip resident, has become famous for his beautifully crafted mandolins and
guitars.  Recognized as being one of the finest living archtop guitar and mandolin makers in the world today, John offers a line of standard high-end instruments and is also well known for his one-of-a kind individualized and prized custom works of playable musical art.  His clients are a who’s-who of famous classical and rock musicians.

In addition to countless magazines and video interviews, John has been featured on CBS’s Sunday Morning show, and his instruments were showcased at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Please meet an Islip resident who is creating history with his artistry and experience the sight and sound of his beautiful instruments during this multi-media event.  The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Ave., 7-9 pm and is free and open to the public though you need to register (631-581-5933) starting Sept. 6th, seating is limited; refreshments.  For more info,
