Learn traditional skills in short hands-on weekend workshops. These workshops are open to anyone interested in preservation crafts.
BLD 226: Wood Window Restoration
Learn skills to restore historic wood windows with Chris Gustafson of Vintage Window Restoration. Students will work on double hung and fixed windows in Alderbrook Hall community center, originally an early 20th Century Pacific Northwest Bungalow Style fire station.
January 19-21 and 26-28
BLD 136: Decorative Glass Glue Chipping
Learn methods, tools and techniques to create textures on the surface of glass, a process historically used for the creation of signs and in stained glass windows. Taught by Jim Hannen of Hannen Stained Glass.
February 3-4 and 10-11
BLD 233: Plaster Repair
Learn about the use and properties of plaster and gain skills in analyzing failures and repairing historic plaster walls and ceilings. Students will work on interior plaster in the 1926 Doughboy Monument, a National Register of Historic Places site. Taught by preservationist Pam Chestnut.
