Lecture—Hamilton’s Revolutionary War Service
May 15, 2018 |
Alexander Hamilton embraced the fight for American independence, serving as an artillery officer, an aide-de-camp to George Washington, and commander of a light infantry company that played an important role in the allied victory at Yorktown. In the last months of the war, Hamilton joined the Society of the Cincinnati and later became its second president general. In honor of the 235th anniversary of the founding of the Society of the Cincinnati, historian Michael Newton discusses his extensive research on Hamilton’s participation in the War for Independence.
