Tour of Kinloch Woodworking Studio and Showroom

September 22, 2018

Join the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Philadelphia Chapter for a visit to the showroom, studio, and home of expert cabinetmaker Doug Mooberry, founder of Kinloch Woodworking. As Mooberry explains, “cabinetmaker” is an 18th-century English term for a craftsman who makes any type of furniture by hand. At Kinloch Woodworking, inspiration for designs come from a variety of places, such as the collections at Winterthur, the Wharton Esherick house in Malvern, and many other museums. Mooberry and his cabinetmakers work collaboratively, their collective knowledge informing a style that often blends classic designs with elements of the modern.

Enjoy a self-guided tour through the Kinloch furniture showroom, learn about the history and evolution of the studio, and hear from the cabinetmakers themselves for a first-hand look at production in the workshop. After the tour, consider an optional extension to the nearby home of Doug and Pat Mooberry to see their own furniture collection and the barn where the studio stores its “library” of wood.

This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website, or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
